I can't see that you know what you are talking about. How is the ICA a closed shop? Anyone can apply for membership, subject to passing some exams. Nobody is forced to employ a Chartered Accountant, or is forced to be a CA to do accounts. There are plenty of alternatives to the AMA approved medicos. I don't know about pilots, but Financial Planners are ten a penny, plenty of competition there and again, nobody has to see a financial planner.
But, if you want to work on a major construction site, or teach, or drive a train, you have to belong to a union.
