An American friend of mine who was working in the UK in the 80's told me this anecdote that sums it all up. American worker in the US looking out the factory window sees the boss coming to work driving the latest Cadillac .He says to his fellow workers,.....one day I will drive a Cadillac like that one. The UK worker back in the UK looks out his factory window and sees the boss driving up in a Rolls . He says to his fellow workers,.......one day the boss will drive a Minnie just like me. That sums up the Labor Party/ Union philosophy.
