UNIQUE HEART TECHNOLOGY EXCELS IN CLINICAL TRIAL
IM Medical’s (ASX: IMI) unique diagnostic test results strongly correlate with the severity
of coronary artery disease in patients undergoing angiography, according to new research
findings.
An abstract presented to the annual scientific meeting of the Cardiac Society of Australia
and New Zealand in Christchurch this month found a strong association between features
of the Intelliheart report, including Heart Rate Variability, and the presence and severity of
coronary artery disease.
“This is an outstanding finding that shows the value of Intelliheart in predicting coronary
heart disease and other cardiovascular events,” said the Chief Executive of IM Medical, Mr
Tommas Bonvino.
The research is being conducted by Monash University among 500 high-risk patients at the
Alfred Hospital, Box Hill Hospital and the Northern Hospital. IM Medical is funding the
research.
These initial findings, in 153 patients presenting for coronary angiography, have been
accepted for publication in the Internal Medicine Journal, the official journal of the Royal
Australasian College of Physicians.
“We are very pleased with these findings, and expect more positive research results in
coming months that demonstrate the importance of this technology,” Mr Bonvino said.
Intelliheart combines a number of diagnostic tools, including heart rate variability,
electrocardiograms and pulse wave analysis, to provide one of the best available predictors
of heart disease, Mr Bonvino said.
Intelliheart is used by doctors at medical clinics across Australia, and is increasingly used
by companies and organisations to assess the health of their workforce.
