The SA battery investment is too early in the development cycle. Low technology, inadequate capacity. For now a gas fired power station would have been the appropriate solution. Wind and solar only provide a very small amount of the total power needs to the grid. Fossil fuels the vast majority. We're in the infancy of battery development. Like the brick mobile in 1995. Lithium is not the only solution. Also think about Vanadium, salt, and yes... thin Graphene sheets as a possible storage solution (TLG). Also think about the people who work at the many petrol stations, refineries, transports and engine manufacturing plants. To dismiss these millions of people and not care about them is utterly unconscionable...
