Many world‑class assets started off dismissed as too small, sulphide‑rich, geologically complex, or remote. Classic examples include Bellevue in WA, shuttered in 1996 then re‑drilled from 2017 to define ~3 Moz @ ~10 g/t and now in production. Similarly, Spartan's Dalgaranga, the previously ‘satellite’ project, is being re‑imagined today as a multi‑Moz, high‑grade, underground operation anchored on modern drilling and existing infrastructure. Maybe even Mt Chalmers, which sat for years and was ignored.

These show that with careful re‑interpretation, deeper drilling and current processing techniques, projects once branded “show‑stoppers” can actually become viable, even exceptional. High gold prices make that even more likely. It may well pay to re‑examine the sulphide component, fault model, even geometallurgical assumptions, rather than walking away too soon.
