"Oil drilling starts in West Nile region

    Arua

The publicly-listed oil and gas company, Neptune Company, has finally begun oil drilling activities at one of its two oil wells in Arua District. The oil exploration has started at the first oil well in Iti in Rigbo Sub-county.
The Director for Tower Resources Oil and Gas Exploration, Mr Peter Kingston, said the success of the drilling would be determined in three weeks time. “We started drilling so that we quickly start other programmes and it is our commitment that we will do the work diligently,” Mr Kingston said. He said drilling activities in Iti oil well began on Thursday and it has now reached a depth of 100 metres.

Neptune delayed the oil drilling because it had not secured rigs. But tension is already brewing over the oil benefits with land wrangles emerging. The area in contention is the Odupu area that Madi and Terego counties share. The Madi claim the area belongs to them, so are those in Terego."

Now all we have to do it find that map of counties in Uganda

I would also guess the comment from Peter Kingston was made on the 1st?

this depth would be as expected, so it would be around 200 metres today if the comment was made on the 1st.

In any event looks on schedule?
