    Well, for starters, unless the tip is located very close to the department store, both of which are located very close to your house, it is highly unlikely that it took you a mere half an hour to collect a mattress at a store as well as dispose of a mattress at a tip.

    Second, the marginal cost is not $200; from that you need to deduct the tipping fees, petrol, capital charge on the vehicle you used and then of course, the cost of your time.

    For the overwhelming majority of people who work for a living, their leisure time is limited so it is far more valuable than their time at work. Objectively, one should cost one's leisure time at multiples of what one earns while at work.
    (And anyone who doesn't value one's leisure time at a premium is an idiot)

    For example, if one earns $50/hour while working, then the value of one's scarce leisure time should be multiples of that, maybe four or five times higher, so at least $200/hour.

    Do the cost accounting properly and you'll find your puerile whinge is, well, exactly that: yet another puerile whinge
