well if anyone was in any doubt that the CSIRo has been taken over by Chicken Littles and Greenies than the twin fallacies of $8 petrol and Global Warming proves it.
Petrol won't reach $8 by 2018 because the market will kick in and alternatives will force the price down. In the 1973 oil shock, absurd predictions were also made which didn't eventuate.
The CSIRO is a shadow of its former greatness. It's in real danger of becoming irrelevant.
