unemployment cannot cause a rental squeeze as rental prices at the lower end are bound by Centrelink payments and rental assistance.
Also there is a large surplus of vacant bedrooms used across the country. Many will simply move back home (while they continue to pay out their mortgage on the home that just got repossessed and sold at a loss !!
