announcement today and good for melb UNWIRED DOUBLES MELBOURNE NETWORK
Wireless broadband provider adds 12 new suburbs to its network
Wireless broadband provider Unwired Australia, today doubled its Melbourne
coverage area, activating three new towers in Brighton East, Cheltenham and North
Melbourne.
From today, people in Brighton, Brighton East, Brighton North, Elsternwick,
Cheltenham, Cheltenham East, Cheltenham North, Garden Vale, Ripponlea,
Bentleigh, McKinnon, Ormond and parts of Braeside, Keysbourgh and
Waterways, can now access Unwired's fast, wireless broadband service.
"This is an important milestone for Unwired and means an additional 104,000
Melbourne homes can now enjoy the convenience of Unwired's wireless broadband
services," Unwired CEO David Spence said.
The new sites are part of the second phase of Unwired's Melbourne launch. Towers
in Melbourne CBD, South Yarra and South Melbourne went live earlier this year.
"Consumers today are demanding value for money, simplicity and flexibility in all
aspects of their lives. Unwired delivers all of these, with a broadband option that is
easy to setup, great value for money and can be used anywhere within our
Melbourne and Sydney networks," said Spence.
According to a recent customer survey, the top three reasons people choose
Unwired are because it's easy to install, portable and doesn't require a phone line.
"As phone line rental increases and more people move from fixed home phones to
cheaper capped mobile phone plans, Unwired becomes the obvious internet choice.
With Unwired broadband and a mobile phone, customers have a complete
communications solution that they can use where-ever, when-ever they like," Spence
said.
Unwired has substantial networks in both Sydney and Melbourne and as the only
carrier that can easily transition to WiMAX when the mobility standard is introduced,
the company is well placed for future growth. Unwired owns 2.3GHz and 3.5GHz
spectrum (the WiMAX-enabled bands) covering 64 per cent of the total Australian
population.
"With the impending introduction of Mobile WiMAX, we look forward to offering our
customers' a seamless transition to full internet mobility - including national and
international roaming," Spence said.
Unwired's plans start from $15.95 a month for fast internet plans, $29.95 for
broadband plans and $49.95 for its Wireless Card plans. Unwired's Wireless Desktop
Modem costs $189.00 and its Wireless Card $299.
