ProjectDirector – North Queensland Pumped Hydro Energy Storage

TheProject

Thisiconic pumped hydro energy storage project in North QLD will utilise twoexisting mines as the upper and lower reservoirs and will involve significantcivil and underground works.

TheOpportunity

Reportingto our Head of Projects, you will deliver the project on behalf ofEnergyAustralia and our business partner, providing high-level projectmanagement expertise and leadership from pre-FID through to construction,commissioning, close out of contracts and warranty.

Specificrole accountabilities for this senior appointee include:

• Develop and maintain relationships with all relevant stakeholders, including with contractors, authorities and regulators as required to deliver the project;
• Manage contractual issues arising with and perform the “Owner’s Representative” role under the contract;
• Assume overall authority to co-ordinate and engage key staff within the project construction management team;
• Manage all aspects of project cost;
• Monitor progress vs schedule and identify and eliminate delay risks prior to delays occurring;
• Report to the Steering Committee on all project matters as required.

Whatwe’re looking for

Youmust have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, includingwritten, verbal and presentation, to explain complex technical details to avariety of customers and stakeholders. Ideal qualifications, skills andexperience for this role include:

• Engineering and Project Management qualifications combined with relevant underground projects experience;
• Strong Contractor and Contract Management capabilities – in infrastructure construction environments;
• Proven track record of project oversight of construction and commissioning infrastructure, and transitioning to the operational phase;
• Experience leading multi-discipline projects involving civil, mechanical and electrical works.

EnergyAustraliawill be offering the successful candidate a permanent position. This role willbe based in North Queensland, with travel to Melbourne and Brisbane.
