no mate definetley DO NOT have to have been in since the beginning. in fact i have never seen this happen.
as long as you are registered as a shareholder by the ex entitlement date you are entitled to participate in the options plan!!
and at 40 cents they would be worth 22 or 23 or maybe a tad more!!!
