…..there was absolutely no reason for SWM NOT to do the same. They could have afforded it. A dividend of any amount would have been an instant sugar hit….(dividend investors back in) then along with the buyback a steady increase due the reduction of shares. Considering the buyback is set for 12 months. You actually win both ways, instantly and gradually. Of course if the shares have an instant uplift the buyback would have to pay a higher price.
Just my opinion.
