Two sides to a buy back: to arrest the fall of a share price or to take advantage of the weak share price. Currently questions to ask is what would the sp be if there are no buy backs? The answer to that is then how does management want to play with it, they cannot go all in if they think the sp will fall much further in the absence of a buy back. What is their ultimate motive? I don't know.
