Merger laws are outdated in australia, the Australian Government are destroying media here with there outdated laws which years ago made sense but now they absolutely don't! 30 years ago if channel 2, 7 9, and 10 stopped we would be watching the test pattern, today if they disappeared it would hardly make a difference, let's face it how many sub 20 year olds even watch tv anymore? Would the ACCC approve a merger of say 7 and 9? answer NO, would they care if either one went belly up? answer F**k NO. makes no sense does it.

Is it possible that at some point 7 and 9 would or should merge just to stay competitive?
Should SWM consider an outdoor media company buyout say a company like OML, that would have synergies in the add spaces surley.

For Kerry Stokes this company would be his tax loss claim every year, so he doesn't give a toss about the share price, why else would he just have a majority shareholding and not just buy out the whole company, geez isn't it cheap enough KS?


Just my ramblings, but not sure this is a hold anymore, I learned a lesson never buy into a company that has a wealthy majority stake holder on the registar.
