the wild price fluctuatlons today have been caused by the entry of the scourge of world markets HFTs - they have been attracted like flies to the stock because of its sharp rerating last week or so and the ease of push pull given the amount of stock available for tradingthey have sought out both the lowest prices in the range where volume support really kicks in and then the upper end where volume sellers emergenow they know where inside that range they ( the algos) can toss around the bids and offers to extract value from tradingnote the small parcels and only too often undeclared sizes in bids ( only place small parcels at severl bud levels to discourage being hit by a volume salesame same of offer depthsthe algos want now to constantly chip away getting stock and selling it back in chips to take the spread over and over pity but until the asx starts levelling the playing field by charging for each transaction at every different price level ( like the rest of us) - this market disruptive action will continue to the detriment of transparent market price discovery .
