There is a distinct difference between how Saudi Arabia & Sweeden arrived at the position in both timing and circumstances of fairly distributing their respective country's resource wealth:
Saudi Arabia: -A benevolent dictsctorship Saudi Arabia in the early 1970's nationalised its oil resources. By then these resources were foreign wned and with the exception of the Royal House and its cronies, the Saudi people were close to poverty. Unlike Venezuela 25 years ago when the Socialist Government attempted to ape Saudi Arabia and nationalise its oil resources, there was no cold war happening then. In the early 1970's the USA & the USSR was locked in a deadly Cold War and the House of Saud exploited this conflict by seeking the assistance of the USSR to execute its nationalising of oil. The USA needed cheap M E oil at the time for military and domestic purposes and the rest is history.
Norway, however, engineered the distribution of its offshore oil resources thanks to a socialist Government that had the forsight to set up a peoples' pension fund & a State owned Oil Corporation to ensure Norwegian ownership in perpetuity . this results in a double bunger benefit for the average Norwegian: an ongoing high income per capita & a pension fund that guarantees every Norwegian that they will have a retirement life of luxury.
Are Saudi Arabia & Norway now enemies of the USA because of their respective nationalising oil resources? I dont think so! All we have to do is to be as intelligent as them & certainly more intellegent than Venezuela . Perhaps we should import a few Gurus to show us how its done...eh? We import just about everything else
Perhaps our youth rather than leading the Environmental marches should change the banner to "Take Back Australia"
NB Saudi Arabia is a Right Wing Dictatorship & Norway is a Left wing Social Democracy so taking control of a country's resources is not a Right Wing or a Left Wing Gig, IMO
