Gunns have missed the boat on the pulp deal .While they have been stuffing around in Oz in South America there have been 4 huge pulp mills established and one in China with another one being built. It will not be able to compete with 7 yr plantation rotations and cheaper energy, labour, operating costs in SA.It will only subsidize the Chinese and Japanese who will sell the added value back to Oz. For less than a billion bucks a rational company would have built a BCTMP mill requiring only 2000 000 m3 of plantation timber and no pollution drama with 2 large paper machines. Oz imports over $ 1 000 000 000 of printing and writing paper per year. Gunns cant see the forest for the trees .The Board should be sacked .They are a joke in the global forest industry.
