    Yeah, the figure always quoted is a 'trailing dividend' meaning the past 12 months, and it's based on the daily share price.
    So if dividends get cut , or the Share price goes up, your yield drops.


    Another thing to think about is "yield on cost" which is comparing the yield to the price your paid.
