Aldi's also sells four litre casks of soft dry red for $9 which is extraordinary value for cooking, quaffing, quarreling etc.
The wife (some people call them "the enemy")who was a sponsored physiotherapist immigrant, did a bit as a nanny, roustabout, and bargirl when she arrived in Australia while touring this wonderful nation in the VW Kombi years ago.
The Koori's used to refer to all the grog over the counter in those days at the Katherine Hotel as Green Can, White, Yellow can etc.
Because she was a well educated middle to upper class girl from a good school, and got her degree at the famous Guys Medical Hospital she talked proper - not with the dreaded plumb in her mouth.
Hence she was employed in a caged bar area outback to refine the locals a bit in nocturnal hours with some culture - apparently tamed them nicely. Then delicatgely step to av oid tripping over the happy patrons on the way home.
Just like a few of the MCO buyers of late who are stepping careully and cagely working their way back in, after selling at a high!
PS The best I can do with home brewing is a dollar a litre - used to be great for those client and staff parties. And I could brew it with a short line, no contaminants or preservatives to taste much better than most of the really good high priced boutique beers.
Anyone that thinks I drink from a mug is no fool.
