Interesting article Duds, there's no doubt this has had an impact on HP with laptops, and may have also impacted our ability to produce buds at the target rate. From memory one of Nuheara's components had up to a 40 week lead time nearly 12 months ago, so this could have increased, however they have been aware of the delays for a long time so hopefully they stocked up! It could certainly have flowed to other components as the market tightened. The HP build apparently didn't use this particular component so supply delays may not have been impacted in the same way.
Supply chain issues are definitely a big unknown here and I'm sure we'll get some commentary on this in today's 4C, especially if it's delayed production. Most mainstream commentators seems to suggest this will persist and may get worse in the second half of 2021, definitely for car manufacturers, before reaching a more normalised state in 2022/23.
With the forecast growth in the hearables market hopefully the supply side has positioned itself for this type of growth, however if there are components that have multiple usebcases across different industry sectors then we will also feel the squeeze.
Not long to wait until we get an update and hopefully some clarity on these matters.
