Middleton, I agree with you, but the current batch of CEO's are a boring bunch of cost cutters. Not an entrepreneur amongst them !! I think we could have a much bigger impact for shareholders if we got rid of the ACCC. Just a quick look down the list of major Co's ;
Banks - can't expand within Oz due to ACCC and Gov't policy.
Retailers - can't see Woolies or Wesfarmers being allowed to buy anything domestic. Woolies can't even sell some petrol stations.
Telecoms - Telstra can't buy anything (remember Adams Internet joke), no doubt Optus and soon TPG will be in the same boat.
Caltex - will never be allowed by ACCC to be taken over.
The list goes on.... we are a low growth/no growth business market unless you move to miners, technology, health sectors. The big end of town is effectively just a cash cow being milked by Execs and shareholders...... imo of course.
