    IMO The completion is not preferable. It is too high in the structure and also an open hole. They were forced to complete it that way because they couldnt drill any further. To look for oil, they will have to go deeper, and find out what liquids are present. Given that the well is already drilled to 2,777 meters, it is more sensible to unset the packer and pull out the production tubing. Re-enter and drill using a coiled tubing drilling unit with viscoelastic drilling fluid. They only have to push the drill stem down the casing and then drill right through the Nullara. They can then get any zones they want.
    Getting the job engineered and contractors sourced will take time, and what better time than the wet season when nothing much can happen.
    If this is what gets announced today, then its for the best in the long run. Frustrating and annoying as it may be, the SB well cant produce at optimum the way it is today. The formation is damaged by excessive heavy DRILLING mud, and it wil only get worse if the mud is left in the tubing for months.
    I expect that the JVs will have to cough up their share of the costs. Thats if they are invited to partcipate. !!
