I'll be pretty p#$ssed if WPL and the operators have used "kick" when they really meant mud pump failure setting off BOP after a collapse of the bore. Or casing failure. The collapse of the bore through not moitoring cuttings , pressures and casing early would casuse string to be lost and a sidetrack. I wouldn't have thought so high up and need of a serious plug but....They seem to want to test total depth with 6'
Seems they were down to their smallest rods so may have had no choice to sidetrack from the shoe so they could still case and have a decent bore size.
They would now be close to the failure level and will soon know if it was a gas , water or oil overpressure from the mud however HDR reacted pretty much in line with the market.
Have sat on the fence today and watched the carnage which looked a lot like capping or a skilled seller dribbling out a large holding tipping some dumb stops at around $2.
