Hawk Springs won't be a write off given that commercial oil is very likely to flow from the first two wells and we have another freebee well yet to come.
If it takes a year or three for SOA#1 to pay for itself then fine ... at least its not (likely) a duster. The Permian era oil can migrate up or down ..... and is hopefully resident in certain salt traps.
There are a lot of theories floating around and I guess that the absence of some forum experts ATM means they are guessing also. Between reservior maximisation strategies, purported natural fractures, possible CHK negotiation games and alleged timing of results I don't have a clue. It could just be that it will take a week or three to know what we have.
Flow rates in the niobrara are reportedly less that for the bakken but for given flow rates, niobrara reservior sizes are reportedly greater.
