Here in Cairns, Far North Qld, this morning, we wake up to the headline that a local indigenous group has lodged a land claim over the Cairns CBD! Worse though, it has been registered with the Native Titles Tribunal - which means it will get a hearing.
Some people I know are saying the Federal ALP is doing it's best (or worst) to hinder Capitalism before it gets booted out of office in September. More evidence of this theory was yesterday's announcements of yet more regulation of the CSG industry, supposedly to protect the Great Artesin Basin which underlies the outback, plus the media reforms which are going before parliament in just 2 short weeks.
Don't blame me - I didn't vote for them.
Anyway, hopefully, OBL will soon have it's final hurdle decided by the Native Titles Tribunal and we can get on with life.
