Some new update on MT Hojgaard in regards to IBG Citronen Zinc Project

Since November 2009 MT Hjgaard has been working on the Citronen Zinc Project for Australian Ironbark Zinc Ltd.

Citronen Fjord is located in the northernmost part of Greenland, and it goes without saying that the location alone makes it a challenging project to establish a mine here. Once in operation, Ironbark expects to mine 250,000 tons of zinc concentrate and 30,000 tons of lead concentrate annually which must all be shipped during the short, ice-free period.

Feasibility Study and Field Work 2010
MT Hjgaard's mining department has previously served in a consulting role, reviewing the Pre-Feasibility Study, and is now carrying out the Feasibility Study in order to clarify precisely what is needed for the infrastructure in form of roads, harbour, buildings and runway. A geotechnical engineer, several design engineers, a surveyor and a water specialist among others have been working on site during the summer of 2010 digging test pits, taking measurements, checking alignments, extracting samples etc. to be analyzed and gathered in the Feasibility Study report.

    Innovative solutions
Constructing a mine in this hard-to-reach Arctic region may require alternative solutions. In stead of building the process plant on bedrock, constructing it on a barge in Iceland, sailing it to Greeland and floating it to its final position via a trench and finally building a dam to keep the water out, is being considered.
