These reefs were mined from about 1854 to produce about 22 million ounces. As you are no doubt aware BDG has a tremendous lot of historical data on the various reefs that were mined. It is this data that it thinks will give it a flying start if the mine proceeds.
As I understand it BDG are working on the assumption that similar structures are repeated beneath the reefs that were mined. At this stage the data being collected doesn't seem to contradict that idea.
The reason mining was stopped,so we are told, is that the existing technology could not handle the depth and the water encountered. Modern mining and pumping techniques can overcome those problems.
The next 6 months I would think should give us a better idea if it is a goer. African miners like Harmony are very experienced at deep mining and bring a lot of expertise to the project.
You blokes in WA could dig your's up with a shovel so I guess this Vicky gold is a bit out of your league.
