Sharkies I'll be the first to admit I'm wrong, but what you're saying just doesn't make any sense ESPECIALLY on a re-read of the announcement. "Currently FAR estimates that it could be required to contribute approximately A$24.2M (US$22.5M) to fund its share of costs of the drilling program". The drilling program overall, not the increased costs in isolation. A$24.2M - A$22.2M = A$2M.
If the announcement is meant to be read in the way you're suggesting then it's the worst company announcment ever drafted. The fellow you spoke to - who may very much be a member of the B team - could easily be confused himself or unskilled in providing unambiguous information. His words to you were also influenced by the way in which you posed the question.
Yes, FAR does have to stump up A$24.2M "extra", but 22 of this is already covered by payments received.
