As others say, that wont happen in the USA.

NZ is a rather unique situation. Firstly, Christchurch sufferred an earchquake and the CHCH city council is obviously over-reacting to the popularist feeling against fracking in NZ - linking it to increased earthquakes.

2nd, the NZ govt is right wing - not influenced by greens. The recent NZ election saw the greens campaign against mining and drilling, but the national government wants to do the opposite - increase mining and drilling.

3rd, Pike river coal disaster - 29 deaths.

All these factors culinating to a public campaign against drilling, mining and fracking.

Ian - can you post the link for the US report that links earthquakes with fracking? I'd like to read that one.
