    Im not super experienced with this type of situation, and don't know even if a 'reversal' has been done in the history of the stock market, but just thinking about it I don't see how it could be done. I would love to hear some input from some more experienced traders in this regard though.

    My thoughts are -

    if you have bought from someone, and they have used those funds to on purchase other shares, - and those are unwound at a loss - who compensates that person if they were planning to hold long term?

    What if they are unwound at a large profit in this financial year and that incurs a taxable gain that would have been offset in the next financial year by some losses that the trader may crystallize?

    What if they are unwound and the next day the subsequent shares sky rocket, robbing the third party of a massive capital gain?

    And that's only if the money has changed between 3 sets of hands...
