I admit I don't take a lot of notice of economists' forecasts. Equity analysts use discounted cash flow analysis and spreadsheets to help in the calculation of the value of a company. Clearly the answer -- the bottom right-hand corner of the spreadsheet -- is based on the assumptions.
But garbage in will result in garbage out. I don't know what tools economists use to get to their "bottom right-hand corner". But both economists and equity analysts make assumptions, some more than others."
