All of the centrifugal pumps on my property have the seals behind the pumps, well away from fast flowing fluids. I guess the GDY pumps need to operate at several orders of magnitude more pressure so maybe they need a different configuration. When debris has hit my pumps, the impellers tend to be destroyed rather than the rotating seals.

If I were designing a pumping system for GDY's hot, high pressure brine, I would be specifying high pressure, ultrafiltered water as the lubricant for the rotating seals. I know this is what is used for the wet ends of hydroelectric generators.
