For sure, shorters can impact the SP on the short term, but on the long term, company fundamentals always win.
Shorters have already had their big impact on LKE SP by selling more than 100 million shares. That's the past. What the future is: they MUST buy back those more than 100 million shares!!!
This, coupled with positive news from LKE will likely create a short squeeze imho.
I think some of the news that will be easy to understand for the market could be:
- Kachi JORC update
- Kachi DFS (it could have around A$10 billion NPV in my estimates)
- Kachi demo plant based lithium carbonate results reaching better than Battery Grade quality
