not sure bud, I only short with CFD's (contracts for difference) via IG
its a derivitive which doesn't effect the market price as far as I know, if there's too many shorts active though it will refuse to let you open a position
the proper shorting is done through brokers, if anyone has an account active with ORTEX, you should be able to see the CTB value (cost to borrow) [but its a little hit and miss with ASX stocks]
