I have heard of this happening, State is irrelevant as Capital gains is a Federal Tax Issue.
I bought a home, at the time, my principle residence, lived in it for 2 years, moved away for a Government job, meaning I had Government housing included, rented my house out for 4 years, moved back in and lived in it for 5 more year asI was i formed every year you live back after renting balanced each other out... fail... 52k capital gain bill. hate that damn tax.
Only difference now with regards to PLS, tax still around, but got rid of the money leaching Wife... now ex.. Now I'm happy to pay as much CGT as I can.
The ex hates my super being in PLS (80% of portfolio) , GXY, AVZ and AJM, more than @ThinkMllions hates @hoots's charts.. ( Actually TA, is all man made)
Whether it be TO, 5Mtpa, 8Mtpa or 10 Mtpa whatever the outcome is with PLS, I'll be getting a copy of the CGT bill framed and will be sending her, her own framed copy.
