Tragically (for we BOTA s/holders) we are a casebook illustration of the dearth of management talent in Australia. We paid well for their services but that didn't improve the calibre of the people who ran Biota. They were out of their depth from beginning to end. There are countless similar examples of this throughout Australian "senior management" ranks - we appoint managers and hope for the best - I am reminded of the old saying "you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear" or "if it walks like a duck" etc.

But that's largely history. With the appointment of Russell Plumb, we may well have a manager who will earn his keep. I continue to "hold" and hope.
