Nobody wants a coal-fired station in their backyard either. We'll get used to it.
I read once that the rural French are happy to farm "in the shadow of the cooling towers" because they appreciate the good jobs which give their children a choice of careers.
I know the Chinese were designing modular power stations but I was unaware that they could be scaled down as Xiggy says. The Chinese are working on pebble-bed reactors because there is no risk of meltdown. That technology was originally American but Europeans and South Africans have done development work on it too, as I remember.
If only people would open their minds to new thoughts!
