I have done my research on this. There is no reason why this cannot be scaled down below 40nm, although I may hit sub 10nm as Tour has already stated.
The only risk with any of these R&D companies going into memory is getting into mass production. I have no doubt most can easily get mass produced, that isn't and has not been the problem. The problem with any of these companies becoming successful is their version of memory being accepted into the fab line and being mass produced.
Any of these companies have to show good reason why their version is the best type to take a chance on. From my point of view cost of implementing the tech/materials is the single biggest factor, not the only factor just a significant factor.
Now I have to get back onto facebook before my boss thinks I'm not working...
