It would be even more detrimental for the US gov to then see its uranium go abroad to another country like China. Especially a large newly discovered resource.
But I must admit, although new nuclear in the US is slow, they do seem to be making good headway with new mines getting developed, fastracked (ISR that is), so thats a good thing for companies approaching production.
