I do not think it is a question of just education, there are several major issues around the mining of uranium and use of nuclear energy that need to be addressed

1 There needs to be proper and fool proof safe guards in place to ensure that any uranium mined does not end up being used in weapons. There has been some work done in this area but more needs to be done.

2 Safety of nuclear power generation. Probably more of an education area then one that needs much more work on.

3. Disposal of nuclear waste, regardless where it is disposed of. At present it almost appears to be something that is being put in the to hard basket and something to be worried about when it becomes a real problem. This is probably the most important issue that needs to be addressed and addressed properly if there is to be wide spread support for uranium mining and nuclear energy.

It appears many are more interested in making a quick buck from uranium mining than being concerned about the future consequences of larger scale use of nuclear energy if these issues are not properly dealt with.
