WHILE the movers and shakers represent the beating heart of the Diggers and Dealers conference, it is the juniors who ooze the most soul.
Take NSW gold and silver explorer Drake Resources. It couldn't have timed yesterday's decision to reveal plans to explore for uranium any better. Yellowcake, dealers, dozens of journalists - it had all the recipe ingredients down pat.
"You probably get a better longer term future with uranium," Drake managing director Bob Beeson said.
"There seems to be a change in sentiment towards uranium in many circles. There has been some interest from the brokers at Diggers."
To say uranium will be a hot topic at this year's forum is an understatement. Uranium stocks are booming as the world searches for alternatives to fossil fuels for a cleaner energy mix.
