Germany closing down the last of their nuclear power plants might turn out to be the greatest promotion for using nuclear power as baseload energy supply. Not that I would wish it on any country in Europe, but imagine if there is a blizzard event that hits Europe in about eight months time. Germany with their great dependence on solar panels will be scrambling to sure up their energy supply from other nearby countries including France ( nuclear) or importing gas etc. that may not be available to them.
Imagine how expensive that will be for the German population. They are already paying five times more for their electricity than they were 4 years ago. The Greens in Germany will probably be thinking that with climate change there is little chance of a blizzard event occurring ever again. Let's face it, they are not the sharpest tools in the shed in Germany or Australia for that matter.
I think the whole world will be watching Germany and perhaps it might be the wakeup call that Australia needs to make them realise that you can't rely on weather to supply your baseload energy. You need a secure backup plan. That has to be nuclear energy.
