uranium price

The current spot price for Uranium is about US$50 / pound.

How much can the price rise before it has any significant effect on the end user price of energy?

1 pound of U produces 1.8x10^5 kWH in a modern power plant.
So, each US$100/pound increase in the price of uranium implies an increase in the price per kWH of 0.055 cents.

A $1000 increase in the price of U means an energy cost increase of 0.55cents/kWH.

We pay about 15c/kWH for power in Australia.

So, when demand truly outstrips supply, which by all accounts it is going to shortly, the price should rocket.
