    re: ** uranium + the australian ** I agree with you Siamese, there's a big gap between the possibility of establishing a U mine and its realisation. And, no solution is in sight for what to do with processing U waste at any level. If it was that easy, don't people think it would have been done years ago? The world has been looking for clean power sources for the last 50 years - they didn't care much before that - but U is not the answer. It looks easy from the pov of the first stages, yes, it's relatively clean up to the power genration stage, but having toxic by products which remain that way for thousands of years is a nightmare..... there is NO solution in sight for treating any of that.

    Fusion is another matter, but that's way into the future, and of course doesn't use U for its fuel source anyway.

    Bit of a puzzle the current U craze. Those countries who are committed to it, such as France, will probably stay that way, but on a world-wide basis, U is not the answer.
