The Mukinbudin program is a scout drilling campaign of widely spaced holes to basement aimed particularly at determining the general geological and geochemical morphology of the upper part of the Yilgarn palaeochannel and to test the hypothesis that sedimentary uranium mineralisation may occur in this newly identified geological environment. There has been no previous drilling in the area. Anomalous uranium values have been returned from a 4m interval of gravels between 56 and 60 metres in drillhole YAA0056 to the west of Elachbutting Hill. The interval averages 66 ppm U and includes 1m of 93.7 ppm U. Background uranium values in the drilling to date is 5 ppm. The gravels appear oxidised and lie towards the base of the channel beneath a thick layer of reduced clays. Geophysical gamma logging results are expected to be available within the next few weeks. This early and strongly positive result provides important support for the exploration concept. Work in the area is on-going and the scout drilling campaign will continue.
