Sydney SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING
Issued at 3:03 PM Thursday 04 December 2003.
The Bureau of Meteorology in Sydney has issued a Severe Thunderstorm
Warning for the following area:

Sydney Metropolitan Area.

This warning is current from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM.

Thunderstorms were located near Oran Park and Warragamba at 3:00 PM.
These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to southeast. Severe
Thunderstorms are forecast to affect Leppington in the next 30
minutes and Erskine Park, Horsley Park and Liverpool within 60
minutes.

Large hailstones, damaging winds and very heavy rainfall are
possible. Hail has already been reported at Warragamba Dam.


The STATE EMERGENCY SERVICE advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and
balcony.
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* Unplug computers and appliances.
* Avoid using the phone during the storm.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets
indoors as well.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES
Unit on 132 500.
