Strike Extended at Little Eva 28-4-04 Emerging copper group, Universal Resources Ltd, has boosted the status of its joint ventured Roseby Sulphide Copper-Gold Project in North Queensland with impressive new results from drilling at the Little Eva deposit.
Universal has a 50% interest in the Roseby Exploration Joint Venture with Bolnisi Logistics Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Bolnisi Gold NL, and is earning to 70% by sole funding exploration.
The new results came from the first three holes of a 5-hole follow-up RC drilling program designed to test the continuity of mineralisation identified by Hole LER 110 at the end of the 2003 field season. Hole LER 110 returned 94m at 0.94% copper and 0.08grams per tonne (g/t)of gold.
The first of the new holes, LER 111 returned 107m at 1.39% copper from 14m, the second LER 112 returned 20m at 1.31% copper from 34m and the third LER 113 returned 161m at 1.02% copper from 9m.
Universal’s Managing Director, Peter Ingram said that these were exceptionally good results and confirmed the continuity of the extension to the mineralisation encountered in Hole LER 110.
He said: "These results demonstrate that the northern area of the deposit has both substantial lengths of continuous mineralisation down-hole at moderately high grades and excellent continuity over at least 200m along strike.
"Importantly, the deposit outcrops over much of the resource area and is covered by relatively shallow alluvium zero to 20m thick in the northern area - and to the south where we are yet to drill - making it ideally suited to bulk open pit mining."
He added that one of the company’s main objectives at Little Eva during 2004 is to further extend the resource by testing the target over its entire length of about 3.5km.
