Personally I think the US is a basket case, but seems there are more than enough buyers for their debt to continue funding their spending.
Recent auctions this week of 10 year treasury notes did OK with above average foreign demand (don't know how the longer term notes will do). It would appear that many people still regard the US as a safe haven and are happy to move their money there.
