Looks like the US has backed down on the recent over-aggressive, breastmilk-only stance. Rightly so - as a new father, a lot of pressure was placed on my wife to breastfeed, but she was struggling to get things kicked off. It was only when my son was dehydrated and my wife in tears that the hospital finally relented (upon signing of a waiver) and allowed me to administer formula to my son. Within a few days he’d sorted his latching issues out and he now exclusively breastfeeds, but the whole thing was tantamount to bullying and surely not in the best interests of mother *or* baby. Go US!
